Roodepoort, Krugersdorp & Randburg is townships of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. Formerly independent municipalities, Roodepoort along with Randburg and Sandton became part of the Johannesburg municipality in the late 1990s. Krugersdorp was integrated into Mogale City Local Municipality along with surrounding towns.
Roodepoort
Johannesburg's most famous botanical garden, the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, is located in Roodepoort. The Kloofendal Nature Reserve is close in proximity which offers trails, amphitheatre, dam and small wild mammalsis. The city offers a large golf course called Ruimsig Country Club in the suburb Ruimsig. Roodepoort Athletics Stadium is also found within the city and there are future plans to connect Roodepoort onto the Gautrain routes. Roodepoort is home to several private and state schools. In 2001 Monash University Australia opened a campus in Roodepoort called Monash South Africa (MSA). The University pulled out of South Africa in 2018 but sold the University to the Independent Institute of Education. Monash South Africa is now the IIE MSA offering the same qualifications as the old Monash University. There are three major malls in the area - Clearwater Mall, the most upscale in Roodepoort, Cradelstone Mall, built in 2015 and Westgate Mall the largest and oldest. Areas of interest for entertainment include the Featherbrooke Village centre which is close to Monash University and is a student hotspots. Roodepoort has a wide variety of restaurants and shopping centres.
Randburg
Multichoice and its associated companies, M-Net and SuperSport, have their head offices in Randburg. Randburg has faced competition from Sandton which is normally the preferred location for businesses, but offers lower rentals and property prices whilst providing easy transportation to the west, and central Johannesburg. There are also future plans to connect Randburg onto the Gautrain routes. The city offers a popular golf course called Randpark Golf Club. Randburg is well known for its plethora of shopping malls including Crest Mall and entertainment nodes. Randburg has many established primary- & high schools and colleges within its borders, and in the nearby areas.
Krugersdorp
Krugersdorp has a modern business centre and shopping malls alongside many smaller shops, schools, and necessary amenities. There are also game reserves such as the Krugersdorp Game Reserve in the dense bush of the veld holds a large quantity of game and is one of the town's major tourist attractions, and a nearby bird sanctuary. Also in close proximity are various provincial heritage sites including the Cradle of Humankind and its Sterkfontein Caves and the Wonder Cave. Krugersdorp is served by the Lanseria International Airport.
